Great Day Destination

We just had an incredible day at the Oregon Gardens. The gardens are coming into to their own and will continue to mature with each new season just like any typical garden. This however is no typical garden, plants, trees and shrubs are showcased on a cascading plot of land with gift shop, picnic areas and cafe. The short 50 minute drive to the gardens is pleasant going through the town of Mt. Angel. Our children enjoyed the water features, and the unusual plant section. We took a picnic lunch to eat under the large oaks on green lawns always a good idea. The Gordon house a Frank Lloyd Wright original is also on the grounds. Fall should be a spectacular time to visit as the colors change. Oregonians should be proud of a place that shows off what our nursery's provide to the rest of the country!

Beautiful but expensive

The Oregon Garden is one of those places that would be wonderful to visit on a regular basis, at least once per season. The Garden is very family friendly in every way but one. It is expensive. While I'd love to support the Garden with a membership, I just can't justify it. The Oregon Garden offers a beautiful venue for events as well. When I looked into merely renting a single room the prices were out of the ballpark (highest I'd seen--anywhere!). It's hard to know how to rate something like this. The product is of a very high quality. It's just a shame that it is only available to those that can afford it. I honestly believe that if they reduced their admission significantly, the volume would more than make up for it and perhaps save them from the financial doom they are now in.

Beautiful place!

This is an absolutely beautiful place to visit. There are acres of gardens, plants, flowers, and landscaping to look at. My personal favorite was a small pond with lily pads that has lots of frogs. It was so neat to be able to look at the frogs so closely. Their kids area is great, especially on the weekends. I would definitely ride the tram/bus if you have little ones. The prices are a bit steep, but definitely worth it. There is also a coupon in the Entertainment book, and you can get a discount if you show your Safeway card. They might be going out of business soon, so visit while you can. A great place for a picnic.
