McKay High School Reviews

Greatest school I've been to. Administration is top notch and does the best with the staff it has. The Persistently Dangerous School label is a joke- I've seen more dangerous at a bingo hall.

While obviously not perfect, McKay hardly deserves such a low ranking. Until very recently, McKay had the best AP classes in the entire school district (yes, better than Sprague), and still has one of the best. We were recently given the title 'Most Persistently Dangerous School' in all of Oregon because we expell students who are problems (a whopping total of 1% of our population). And the reasons for the expulsions? Not gun fights, not knife fights, but usually freshman girls getting worked up and punching each other right in front of the office (literally) where the fight itself can be stopped very quickly. While I agree the violence needs to go down, I have heard so many worse things happening in other schools in Oregon

It is a great school. Everyone says its a 'dangerous school' but it really isn't. They based that on our expulsion rate. We get rid of the bad kids.

My son goes here and it is a really great school..

I'm a graduate, and I would never take back my experience at McKay. I'm tired of all of the bad publicity, it was a great school with great teachers.

it's a pretty good school, for my first time being there! super super fun.. great people, great classes, and great activities!

It is a privilege to work at a school with such caring staff. The students are obviously the first priority here. With a challenging student population, teachers hold high expectations and provide great opportunities for all students.

The academic programs are wonderful. A lot my fellow students are involved in AP or Honors classes. Our music program has grown as far as student count in the music programs is involved. There are over 30 clubs to get involved in. Our Mckay Boosters club is in need of members, but when they get involved they go all out. I see parents all over the place at the games and in the clubs advising. Mckay is a wonderful place to be. Go Scots!
