Come see how Salem looked in its heyday when the wealth of the country was here and merchants built magnificent homes and buildings. You will get to stroll down and see homes on Federal Street as well as Chestnut Street, which is the first planned street in America. You will see homes throughout our Downtown and McIntire Districts. This tour does not go into any homes.

15-20 minutes prior to the departure time at 1:30 pm, check in at the Salem Historical Tours office, located at 8 Central Street. You can check in anytime that day before your tour to receive your tickets. Then, meet your friendly and professional guide, who will show you and tell you about the incredible architecture. Head into the streets of Salem to begin your 1-hour walking tour. 

As you walk through our beautiful city, the guide will tell you about the homes, but will also tell you about the people who lived there. You will see First and Second Period Colonial Homes, Georgian and Federal Style as well as Victorian, Italianate, Greek and Gothic Revival. From first period to post modern, many architectural motifs are well represented in splendid Salem -- a vibrant community rich in resplendent and varied architecture.
